Holds the Advice Boundary
The agent gives factual product information and captures requirements. Anything advisory routes to a qualified person rather than being answered.
Books Adviser Time With Qualified Prospects
Eligibility and capital range established first, so consultation slots go to people who can transact.
Financial services telesales has a screening problem more than a selling problem. A licensed adviser is an expensive resource, and a large share of their time goes to conversations with people who were never eligible, never had the capital, or were only browsing. The qualification work has to happen, and it is the least valuable use of an adviser hour.
Automating the first conversation puts a filter in front of that. Eligibility, capital range, timeline and product interest are established before an adviser is booked — so the adviser calendar fills with people who can actually transact, and the compliance boundary between information and advice stays clean.
The Information and Advice Boundary
This is the design constraint that matters most in financial services, and it should be settled before anything else is configured. The distinction is not stylistic — it determines what your agent may say at all.
- Information: product features — What a product is, how it works, published rates and standard terms. Factual and safe.
- Information: eligibility criteria — Stated requirements, and whether the customer stated position meets them.
- Information: process and documents — What happens next and what is needed. Purely procedural.
- Advice: suitability — Whether a product is right for this person circumstances. Requires a qualified adviser, always.
- Advice: returns or outcomes — Any forward-looking projection. The agent should not go near this.
- Advice: comparison and switching — Recommending one product over another. Capture the interest, route to a person.
Write these as explicit prohibitions in the prompt rather than relying on the model to infer the boundary. A language model will otherwise produce a plausible and confident answer to a suitability question, which is precisely the failure you cannot afford here.
Making Adviser Handoffs Work
The value of screening is realised only at the handoff. A qualified prospect who waits two days for an adviser has had the advantage removed at the final step.
- Define qualified with the advisory team — Agree the eligibility and capital thresholds in writing before writing any prompt. If the advisers disagree with the definition, they will not trust the leads.
- Live transfer for high-intent — A prospect ready to proceed should reach an adviser on the same call where possible, not tomorrow.
- Book real calendar slots — Against live adviser availability, with confirmation sent on the call.
- Brief the adviser properly — Structured fields plus the customer own words, so the adviser opens informed rather than starting over.
- Keep the recording accessible — Both for the adviser preparation and for compliance review.
- Let advisers flag bad leads — Their feedback in the first month is the best tuning input available, and it protects their trust in the system.
